How can I convert from MS Excel to .dbf ?

I am using software that requires me to use database files as input, and I can no longer make them in Excel. I am using Windows XP and Office 2007. I've tried saving as a tab delimited text file and then importing that to Access. However, Access doesn't save as .dbf either. There is free conversion software on the internet, but I don't like to run those out before checking here. (Actually, I only found this site tonight when I couldn't connect to Spyware Info which I've used for years.) Does anyone have some good suggestions? Thanks in advance. kat

Thank you very much. I appreciate the response. The page you sent me to confirms that I can't save an excel file as a .dbf, and it tells me that I can open dBase IV files in Excel 2007, but not save them in .dbf. There are some questions in Italian, which I cannot really read, but even those seem to be frustration at not being able to save as .dbf without any offers of help. For saving a Word document to .pdf, I was able to find a plug in which works fine. I was wondering if there was one for saving Excel to .dbf or if anyone on this forum knows of a good conversion software. Thanks for any help. kat

You could try:

SaveDBF that is an Excel 2007 add-in that helps convert and/or save a native DBF file that was edited with Excel 2007.

Two common scenarios are supported:

1) Open a native DBF file in Excel 2007 – Make changes – Save as a native DBF file with the changes. OR

2) Open/create an Excel file that looks like a database (headers/columns/rows) – Save as a native DBF file.
